The Transportation Construction Coalition kicked off the campaign in February, when it ran digital ads targeted at people who attended a presidential candidate forum about infrastructure that month. However, the group announced an expansion of the campaign Tuesday, targeting industry professionals with ads during the construction industry trade show CONEXPO-CON/AGG, currently being held in Las Vegas.
The coalition plans to run similar ads in coming months targeting constituents of lawmakers on the Senate Finance and House Ways & Means Committees and people living in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
"The spots highlight the impacts of traffic congestion on the U.S. economy and urge Congress to ‘get back to work' by passing transportation infrastructure legislation this year," the coalition said in a statement.
The coalition was established in 1996 and is co-chaired by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association and the Associated General Contractors of America. It currently includes 31 associations and unions as members.
